More than a Doll is the German title of the manga My Dress-Up Darling by Shinichi Fukuda: a cosplay romance about Marin Kitagawa and Wakana Gojo.
More about More than a Doll
More than a Doll (Japanese Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru, internationally My Dress-Up Darling) is a manga by Shinichi Fukuda. It ran from January 2018 to March 2025 in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine and combines romantic comedy with slice of life.
It centres on two high school students: Wakana Gojo, who makes hina dolls and tells hardly anyone about it, and Marin Kitagawa, popular in class and secretly an otaku with a passion for cosplay. When Marin discovers his talent, he sews a costume for her. This grows into a shared project of ever new outfits.
The anime adaptation by CloverWorks started in 2022, and the second season aired in summer 2025. Among the figures, Marin Kitagawa in changing costumes takes centre stage, as a Nendoroid among other formats.
