More about Gojira / Godzilla
Gojira reached Japanese cinemas on 3 November 1954, produced by Toho. Ishirō Honda directed, Eiji Tsuburaya was responsible for the special effects, and Tomoyuki Tanaka produced. Tsuburaya had first proposed a giant octopus; in the end the creature became a dinosaur-inspired being, embodied by a performer in a suit among miniature sets (suitmation). In that film, Godzilla stands for nuclear holocaust as seen from Japan.

Since then the character has been redrawn again and again: in Shin Godzilla (2016) by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi, and in Godzilla Minus One by Takashi Yamazaki, which won the 2024 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. Alongside them stands Legendary's MonsterVerse, which includes Godzilla vs. Kong.

This page shows figures of the title monster in these versions, plus opponents such as King Ghidorah and even a crossover with Evangelion.
