Gintoki Sakata hails from the series Gintama, which takes place in the time of the samurai in Japan, meaning about 1860. However, it is an alternative universe, where Aliens have invaded Japan. Gintoki is one of the most popular characters in the series and is usually a lazy guy, but he gives it his all when it comes to protecting his friends!
While he usually prefers to wear Japanese-style outfits, he is shown here in a black business-suit. The statue does not stand on a base as usual, but resides in a serious businessman-posture on a seat in the shape of a silver kanji.
The kanji is „GIN“ from his surname Gintoki (銀時) and means “silver“. Of course it is also part of the series' title, and you can find the translation “silver soul” for it. While we are at it, “toki“ means “time” or “hour”. The name Sakata (坂田) could be translated as “rice field on the hillside”. It seems silver times full of rice await us!
All fans of this character shouldn't miss this extraordinary figure of him! Who knows if we'll ever see him serious like this again!
