Cyberpunk 2077 was released on 10 December 2020 and comes from CD Projekt Red, the studio behind The Witcher. The action role-playing game adapts Mike Pondsmith's Cyberpunk pen-and-paper role-playing game and is set in Night City, a dystopian metropolis of corporations, implants and mercenaries.
The player takes on V, a mercenary enhanced with cyberware, who is implanted with a biochip holding the consciousness of the rocker and terrorist Johnny Silverhand. In the original he is voiced by Keanu Reeves, who returned with the Phantom Liberty expansion (26 September 2023). In 2022 came Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime series by Studio Trigger on Netflix, set in the same universe.
