More about Ich bin eine Spinne, na und?
“Ich bin eine Spinne, na und?” (Japanese “Kumo desu ga, Nanika?”) began on 27 May 2015 as a web novel by Okina Baba on the platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō. Fujimi Shobo released the first printed light novel volume in December 2015, illustrated by Tsukasa Kiryu. The novel series runs to 16 volumes plus two extra volumes.
The story follows a school class that dies when a spell misfires and is reborn in a fantasy world. One student, Kumoko, comes into the world as a spider monster of the weakest kind, in a dungeon full of stronger opponents. With her knowledge from her earlier life and plenty of optimism, she holds her own against them.
Alongside the novel came a manga adaptation by Asahiro Kakashi, published by Kadokawa since December 2015, and in 2021 an anime series by the studio Millepensee. The German manga volumes are published by Manga Cult.
