The series began in 2016 as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō. Since January 2017 it has been published by SB Creative as a light novel by Kisetsu Morita, illustrated by Benio; the manga adaptation by Yusuke Shiba started at Square Enix the same year. Two anime seasons followed in 2021 and 2025.
At its centre is Azusa Aizawa, an office worker who dies of overwork and is reborn as an immortal 17-year-old witch. She wants to take things easy and hunts slimes until, after three centuries, she has unknowingly reached the highest witch level. Her reputation brings new housemates: the dragon Laika, along with Falfa and Shalsha, the spirits of the slimes she killed.
