Shōjo manga by Pink Hanamori and Michiko Yokote (2002–2005) about mermaid princess Lucia Nanami, who protects the sea from Gackto and his demons as an idol singer.
More about Mermaid Melody - Pichi Pichi Pitch!
Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch ran from August 2002 to March 2005 in Kodansha's shōjo magazine Nakayoshi. Pink Hanamori drew it and Michiko Yokote wrote the story; the collected manga comprises seven volumes.
At its centre is Lucia Nanami, mermaid princess of the North Pacific. With the pearls of Hanon, Rina and other princesses, she transforms into an idol singer and fights off the sea demons around Gackto with song. The idea of telling magical-girl battles as stage performances still defines the series.
The anime aired in 2003 and 2004 across two seasons with 91 episodes in total. Besides manga, the range includes acrylic stands and the PalVerse Pale. figure line by Bushiroad Creative.
