More about Max Factory
Max Factory was founded on 24 April 1987 and began as a garage kit maker: figures and alloy toys, planned and sculpted for model events. Its founder and president is Makoto "Max" Watanabe. From there the company grew into a maker of fully painted figures.
The figma line launched in 2008, developed by Watanabe and the sculptor Masaki Asai as a counter to Kaiyodo's Revoltech, with a focus on articulation, interchangeable faceplates and swappable hands. PLAMAX model kits and PLAMATEA, where the figure is assembled by the owner, sit alongside it.
Max Factory develops and produces; Good Smile Company handles distribution and sales. The two companies work closely together but remain separate businesses.
