Won, not bought
Prize figures („プライズ“) are prizes from Japanese crane games – the UFO catcher. You can't buy them in shops in Japan; you play for them. That's why there are characters and whole lines that never get an expensive scale figure: side characters, playful poses, arcade-only series.
Banpresto, SEGA & co.
Prize figures come from specialised makers. Banpresto, SEGA, FuRyu and Taito produce almost exclusively for the arcade. Their lines release in quick succession and span huge franchise ranges – from dynamic action poses to the beloved „Noodle Stopper" figures.
Affordable, not cheap
„Prize quality“ is no longer a compromise. The figures stay deliberately affordable, but sculpting and paintwork have grown enormously over the years. That's the appeal: lots of character for the money – and motifs you won't find anywhere else.
