Hatsuzuki belongs to the Akizuki-class destroyers. All those ships have the kanji for “moon” in their name. Hatsuzuki means “new moon” but can also be used as another name for the month August. Like Akizuki she wears a headband reading “61st destroyer division”. She also belongs to the five destroyers with animated turrets. She always enjoys a simple meal because in the late period of war food was often scarce.

The historical destroyer Hatsuzuki was commissioned in December 1942. There's a tragic story about that ship. In the battle of Cap Engano (October 1944) she backed up the rescue of survivors from the Zuihou and the Zuikaku, then she faced a superior number of enemy ships alone, holding the line for two hours until she exploded and sunk. Isuzu, Wakatsuki and Kuwa were able to escape with the rescued sailors.

The nendoroid has a little life boat, which most likely represents one in which a low number of sailors escaped from her. She also has food rations and a few effects to show the muzzle flashes of her turrets and smoke from her torpedoes. With her you'll get a ship girl who knows the hardships of war and how to fight till the end for her friends!
