Iowa was, as you can guess, named after the US State. She was the first US Navy ship to be added to the browser game Kantai Collection. The fast battleship has survived the war and was later reactivated once in a while, to be used for example in humanitarian operations. Today she is kind of retired and serves as a museum ship.
To show that Iowa hails from a western country, she uses the English word *me* as a pronoun in the Japanese version, and also uses English terms quite often, similar to Kongou. Also, misunderstandings concerning language and culture of Japan are sometimes added to her utterances. Her color scheme with the colors of the US flag on her stockings betrays her origin as well, especially since characters from America are often depicted with blond hair in Japan. She has quite a playful personality and is proud to be an American ship. She gets along well with the Japanese colleagues.
This statue shows Iowa in her half damaged version. She takes the damage in good humor, as you can see. The figure is also available without her heavy equipment.
