One moment! I did watch the Avengers and Thor was a man!
Character designer Shunya Yamashita converts pop culture idols in sexy female variants with the famous Bishoujo figure series.
With the latest release, Marvel's thunder god Thor, the male character was not redesigned as female because Thor became female in the comic series since 2014!
The comic series Thor appeared in 1966 in the US. Thor, the Nordic god of thunder, is sent by his father, the Godfather of Asgard Odin on Earth to learn decency and humility among the humans. Equipped with the magic hammer Mjolnir that gives him powers over thunder and lightning and can be raised only by Thor, he lives on earth partially in the secret identity of Dr. Donald Blake, and develops sympathy and compassion to the people, becoming a founding member of the Avengers already in the 1960s.
He is not only confronted with human super powered enemies but also a variety of not always peace-loving inhabitants of Asgard opposes him, foremost his half-brother Loki, the god of cunning and treachery.
Thor falls in love with Jane Foster, a nurse who he met as Dr. Blake. When his father orders him to return to Asgard, Thor refuses because of his love for Jane, which results for a long time of break between the thunder god and Asgard.
The recent years have seen a lot of change for Thor and the Marvel comic universe. Asgard was attacked by supervillains and declared war with earth. In "Fear Itself" Odin’s evil brother Cul attacks the weakened Asgard, commanding those he calls The worthy, the most powerful Marvel beings equipped with own magical hammers. In consequence of these events Thor dies but returns with the help of his brother Loki from the dead. Later Thor learns in the "Original Sin" storyline of his sister Angela and the angelic realm, but loses the power to lift his hammer Mjolnir, and therefore also the power of a thunder god. He takes the name Odinsson and uses Jarnbjorn, a battle ax to continue to fight on the side of his fellow earth heroes.
Now who is the new female Thor? It's Jane Foster, the woman Thor loved and for whom he was willing to give up his place at the side of his father! She finds Mjolnir and is able to lift the hammer, something that previously only Thor could do before even he lost the ability. At first Odinsson was not happy that someone else took his hammer along with its powers and the name Thor, but finally he accepted Jane as his successor in this role.
So Kotobukiyas newest character in the Bishoujo series represents the new Lady Thor. What remains are Thor's hammer Mjolnir, as well as his red cape and the medieval style of the costume. A new feature is her silver helmet, chest protector and the boots. In 1/7 scale with a height of 30cm, the figure is ready to fly directly in your collection... And where Thor is, envious Loki is soon to follow...
